Three Hillcrest Hornets are in a position to sting the national competition and pick up a trophy from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences…the presenters of the Emmy Awards.
Anna Cochran, Anna Daniel, and Leanna Teudan produced a story titled “Street Sounds” for Hillcrest’s award-winning program HTV Magazine. Their work has been nominated as one of five finalists for the National Student Production Award in the Serious News category.
“We are thrilled to be able to honor the extraordinary students and their teachers at the National level and equally proud that many Student Production Award recipients cite the recognition by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as the validation that propelled them to choose a career in media,” Danielle Mannion, Education Chair, NATAS, said in a statement.
The work of Cochran, Daniel, and Teudan was chosen as one of the five finalists from a field of 2,000 entries. The entries were judged by industry professionals and media academics.
The winner will be announced in early February.
HTV Magazine is the advanced Broadcast Journalism class at Hillcrest. The program is one of the most awarded in the nation, having won 15 Broadcast Peacemakers in its 30 years of existence.
