A Springfield man is in the Greene County Jail, charged with a dozen child sex crime felonies.
Alan Ballou, 69, is facing charges that include child molestation and statutory rape or sodomy in the first degree with persons less than 12 years old. If convicted on any of those counts, he can receive life in prison.
According to the probable cause statement, Springfield police were dispatched to a Springfield home on July 30, 2020 and when they arrived a woman told the officers her daughters disclosed repeated sexual abuse by Ballou.
On August 11, 2020, the victims were interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center, and provided detailed reports of abuse at the hands of Ballou, with the three stating they started to be assaulted at the ages of 7, 8, and 10 years old. One of the victim stated that Ballou sexually assaulted her “over 100, over 200 maybe” times.
Ballou’s wife Carol spoke with police and said she had been contacted by the victim’s mother regarding the accusations. She confronted her husband who told her “he doesn’t know why he does it.”
The probable cause sheet does not list an interview with Ballou himself.
Ballou is in the Greene County Jail without bond. According to Missouri CaseNet, he is represented by Attorney Dee Wampler.
