Escaped Inmate Caught by Sheriff’s Office

A man who led deputies and police on a 5 hour manhunt after escaping the Greene County Jail is back in custody after being apprehended around 11:25 p.m. Monday night.

Nathan L. Sneed, who had been facing a charge of third-degree domestic assault, will now be facing at least one additional charge for Escape from Custody. That class E felony could bring four years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

Sneed escaped through an 8-inch section of fence.

“We will also be adding additional security features to this area to prevent further attempts of escape,” Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott said in a statement.

A second inmate, Jacob Atkinson, was apprehended soon after the jailbreak by the Springfield Police Department. He will also be facing a charge of Escape from Custody.
