The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has announced two new virtual competitions, one for runners and one for fishermen.
The first event is the “6K Social Distancing Virtual Fun Run.” The race is for anyone who wants to run, jog, or walk. The track will be up to the runners: road, Greenways trail, gym, track, or treadmill.
The fun run is free to participate and is open to all ages. The “run” needs to take place before August 2, 2020. (Race shirts will be available to order for $20.)
The Park Board is also hosting a Father and Son Virtual Bass Fishing Tournament.
The competition will the “Big Bass Challenge” where men can fish with their son, nephew, or grandson. A $30 fee per team is required, and the youth in the event will receive a tournament t-shirt.
Participants may fish in any body of water within the following counties: Greene, Christian, Webster, Dallas, Polk, Dade, and Lawrence.
Contestants who fish at Lake Springfield get 50% off the first hour of their boat rental.
Register online at the Park Board website. All entries must be uploaded on the iAngler Tournament app. The tournament takes place between May 24 and June 21.
