The Salvation Army has announced that the General Managers of Springfield’s network TV stations will be co-chairs for the upcoming Tree of Lights campaign.
Leo Henning, General Manager of KOLR-10/Ozarks Fox/KOZL 27 and Brian McDonough, General Manager of KY3/KSPR will be leading the charge to make the community aware of the Salvation Army’s services to the community year-round.
“We are very excited to have two outstanding community leaders helping us with this year’s campaign,” Springfield Corps Officer Major Robert Buttrey said in a statement. “This is a great example of collaboration and service for the betterment of our community.”
Both station groups have a long history of supporting the Salvation Army.
“If you want to see the spirit of Christmas in action on any given day,” Henning said in a statement, “look no further than The Salvation Army. They help thousands of people in Greene and Christian Counties who are in crisis with food, shelter, and other emergency needs. Over 500 families and senior citizens received Christmas assistance last year. I am honored to help any way I can.”
“Poverty and homelessness continue to be red flag issues in our community,” McDonough added. “The Salvation Army’s two shelters are at capacity year-round, and they serve over 100 meals daily through multiple feeding programs. I am proud to support The Salvation Army’s work in these important areas, and look forward to helping them meet their campaign goal.”
The Salvation Army will also be kicking off their Red Kettle campaign on November 9th at Battlefield Mall at Noon, the same day Santa arrives at the mall at 10 a.m..
