Emails to The Editor & Op-Ed Policy

If you would like to submit an email to the editor, here’s what you need to know.

In the email you will send us, include your full name, mailing address, city of residence, valid phone number and valid e-mail address. Submissions that do not include this information will not be considered for publication. This information is seen only by the editors and is not used for any commercial purpose.  We will call for verification of identity.  When published, all that will be shown is the name of the writer and their city of residence.

We will usually limit any ETTE writer to once every 60 days.  However, we will likely wave that requirement during major election seasons or in times of major news.  If this policy changes, there will be a notification on the Editorals/Opinion page.

Emails become the property of the Ozarks Independent and may be republished in any format. They typically run 250 words or less and may be edited.  Submission of an email to the editor does not guarantee publication.

We will also consider op-ed pieces of up to 800 words on major items of community interest.  These pieces will not be published on a regular basis and will likely be restricted to times we place calls for op-eds on various subjects.  Most of the time we will recommend someone interested in an op-ed to write an Email to the Editor instead.

If you wish to submit a request for an op-ed opportunity, email with what you would like to address.
