417 Magazine Publishers Sell Company to Daughter

Gary and Joan Whitaker, who founded Whitaker Publishing, have sold their company to their daughter Logan Aguirre.

The deal was announced in a posting on the 417 Magazine website showing the proud parents toasting the deal with their daughter.

“Joan and I always dreamed of the day when we could hand off the company we built and love to our daughter,” Gary Whitaker is quoted as saying in the 417 post. “[Logan] is more than qualified and ready to lead 417 into the next decade and beyond.”

Whitaker Publishing formed in 2001 to buy 417 Magazine from Radio 2000 when that company was selling their radio stations. The Whitakers rebuilt and redesigned the magazine, with a focus on the 417 region. The company then added additional 417-centric publications like 417Bride and 417Home.

“I feel like I was born for this position. I grew up in a media family and fell in love with the industry at an early age,” Logan is quoted as saying in the 417 posting. “I am incredibly fortunate and grateful to my parents for creating a company and culture that celebrates everything we all love about 417-land. I am humbled by their confidence in me to continue the legacy.”
