The now former head coach for the Willard High School soccer teams is in the Greene County Jail accused of sex crimes with a student.
Timothy Glyn Magee, 49, is being held on warrants of sexual contact with a student and second degree statutory sodomy pending formal charges.
Allegations from a former student were made several weeks ago and Magee was placed on administrative leave August 10. He has been fired by the district.
“This morning, Willard Public Schools was notified of the arrest of Tim Magee,” Superintendent Matt Teeter said in a statement. “While the Willard district cannot provide specific information regarding personnel or student matters, anytime there are allegations of this kind against an employee of the district, we immediately report the allegations to law enforcement and actively cooperate with their investigation while also performing an internal investigation in the matter,.”
The district said that Magee has had no contact with this year’s team.
“The district has been and will continue to work with law enforcement in their investigation into the serious charges against Mr. Magee who is no longer an employee of the Willard Public Schools,” Teeter said.
Magee has been a district employee since 2005. He took over as head soccer coach for the 2008 season. Assistant coach Joe Scott will be the new head coach.
The school district is asking any past or present students who may have information to come forward and inform district officials.
“The district is committed to protecting our students and ensuring a safe learning environment,” Teeter said.
