The Missouri State swim team will be spending two weeks on dry land after one of their members tested positive for COVID-19.
An athletic department spokesperson told OI that one student-athlete tested positive for COVID-19 and the University began their contact tracing element of their re-entry policy, which has most of the team in two week quarantine.
“Standard protocol,” the spokesperson said.
The University has reported 15 cases in students since in-person classes began this week. The swim team is the first known athletics team that has had to be almost entirely placed in self-quarantine.
The regular season for the swim team usually begins in late September, but no schedule for this season has been announced due to COVID-19 concerns.
