Evangel Expands Sports Broadcast Options

by Eric Doennig

Evangel Athletics and Mediacom have agreed to partner on an enhanced broadcast package for the 2020-21 academic year that will provide Crusader fans more live and on-demand coverage than ever before.

Mediacom will produce broadcasts for three of Evangel’s five football contests. Additionally, Mediacom will continue to air select Crusader men’s and women’s basketball games throughout the winter. Games will be televised live on Mediacom (Ch. 22 in SD, Ch. 722 in HD and on-demand for Mediacom subscribers).

All home football and basketball games will again be streamed live on the Evangel Sports Network (ESN) as part of the Heart Conference Network. Games can be seen on any mobile device, smart TV’s, and popular devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV and Android TV.

Full-season packages for football ($20) and basketball ($30 for both men’s and women’s games) are available through ESN and the Heart Network. Individual football and men’s and women’s basketball contests will be available for streaming at a cost of $6.99 per event.

Additional home Evangel athletic events in the sports of volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball will also be streamed live and available for on-demand viewing on ESN free of charge during the upcoming academic year.

“We strive to provide the very best broadcast content possible,” Evangel Director of Athletics Dr. Dennis McDonald commented. “Each year we must supplement our operating budget with external revenue-generating measures and we feel this is a practical way of achieving that goal while providing the best product we can at a minimal cost to our fans.”

Evangel is one of eight Heart of America Athletic Conference institutions to partner with BlueFrame Technology to bring live sporting events to the league’s streaming platform. The Heart Conference Network delivers its content on websites across all popular devices and OTT apps on every platform including Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and Android TV.

Additionally, Evangel has expanded its live coverage menu with several new and improved options that will virtually bring fans closer to the action than ever before. Last month, EU Athletics launched a brand new mobile app, along with a newly redesigned website in partnership with From Now On and PrestoSports. The mobile app features a customized experience, which will allow fans the opportunity to select which sports they want to follow and receive curated content based on their selections. Events are one tap away with all of the game day coverage you need and the ability to receive updates and notifications on your mobile device.

Evangel also entered into a partnership with StatBroadcast, the leading provider of statistics technologies for collegiate athletics nationwide, to distribute real-time statistical information from home events to a variety of different platforms and audiences.
