The Children’s Smile Center has been bringing smiles to more than children’s faces since 2012 with their annual Balloon Glow fundraiser, traditionally connected to the Sertoma Duck Race in Ozark.
This Friday night, the event is moving to Nixa because of COVID-19 related concerns, and will be held on the grounds of the X Center at McCauley Park, 701 North Taylor.
The event will be a drive through experience, and won’t have carnival rides and other events that many people have associated with the Balloon Glow in the past. The reasoning is to make the event as safe as possible for everyone, as last year’s event drew over 10,000.
The Balloon Glow usually raises tens of thousands for the Children’s Smile Center, who provides dental care to children and pregnant women who are on Medicaid and cannot afford regular dental appointments and procedures.
The Center has three clinics: Aurora, Branson West, and Ozark. They saw around 6,300 children in 2019.
Traffic will not be allowed to stop as they proceed through the Glow area. The event will start around 8:30 p.m. and run until 9 p.m..
