Hollywood returns to Springfield beginning Thursday when AMC Theatres will reopen the Springfield 11 theater. The Alamo Drafthouse will open the following day.
AMC announced a number of safety measures will be put in place with the reopening including keeping theatres at 30 percent capacity, requiring masks to be worn at all times, and enhanced cleaning measures between showings.
AMC’s opening night is already sold out, showing the recent Vin Diesel film “Bloodshot” plus three classic films: Back to the Future, The Empire Strikes Back, and Ghostbusters. They will expand to more screens on August 21st, adding additional films and the IMAX theatre, which will be showing the 10th anniversary event of Inception.
The Alamo Drafthouse announced they will be opening on Friday, August 21.
The theatre will be showing new films Unhinged, starring Russell Crowe, and Cut Throat City, directed by RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. They will also show Inception, The Greatest Showman, and the first Avengers movie.
