Taney County Health Department officials confirmed the two most recent deaths are connected to the outbreak of 70 nursing home cases reported earlier this week.
The count of nursing home cases is now 72.
“TCHD continues to work with the 4 facilities and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MODHSS) to test residents and staff and contain further spread,” TCHD Director Lisa Marshall said in a statement.
The staff and management of the facilities involved are asking the public to stay away until the outbreak has been contained. The involved centers are:
- Point Lookout Nursing & Rehab
- Shepherd of the Hills Living Center
- Forsyth Nursing & Rehab
- Lakeside Mountain Manor
“Individuals in these living facilities are at an increased risk of getting COVID-19 and at an increased risk of severe illness and death,” TCHD officials wrote in a statement. “The risk to those living in residential care facilities and nursing homes is increased due to the prevalence of COVID-19 in Taney County.”
