A string of robberies Wednesday night into Thursday morning are being investigated by the Springfield Police Department as connected crimes.
The first of the three took place in the 900 block of South National around 10:15 on Wednesday, July 29. The suspect robbed a pedestrian, taking their phone and other property. Nobody was hurt.
The second took place about 45 minutes later at the intersection of North Jefferson and East Olive. A pedestrian was robbed of a backpack filled with personal property. Witnesses tied the robber to the first robbery.
Finally, the third robbery took place on Thursday, July 30, around 12:40 a.m. at the Fast and Friendly gas station on South Glenstone. The suspect from the first two robberies brought along an accomplice.
The suspects were unable to get into the store’s cash register but took a customer’s wallet and some bags of Doritos.
The Springfield Police Department says a gun was displayed during the robberies but not fired.
