Drury Women’s Tennis Team and Six Players Win Academic Awards

The Drury women’s tennis team and six members of the squad won academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2019-20 season.
 
Drury’s team was named a Scholar All-American Team by the ITA. Squads needed to post at least a 3.20 grade-point-average among its letter winners to be considered for the award.
 
In addition, six of the Panthers were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Student-athletes had to carry a minimum of a 3.50 GPA, earn a varsity letter, and be enrolled at the institution for both the fall and spring semesters. Drury’s award winners for this year included Maria Fernanda De la Torre Ugarte Espejo (Fr., Lima, Peru), Kseniia Eremina (Fr., Moscow, Russia), Lily Gardner (Fr., Rogersville, Mo.), Clara Kuehnle (Fr., Glashuetten, Germany), Yu-Ning Lee (Sr., Taipei, Taiwan), Cristina Valverde (Soph., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic).
 
The Drury women’s team also won a Team Academic Award from the Great Lakes Valley Conference this year. The Panthers finished 2020 with a 9-1 record when their season was halted on March 11 due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
