A letter to parents of Sherwood Elementary students said one of their Explore students has tested positive for COVID-19.
The letter from Dana Hubbard, Director of Summer Learning and Student Experiences, said in the letter “the Springfield-Greene County Health Department is communicating directly with any person who had close contact with the individual. Out of an abundance of caution, those enrolled in the same Explore class, and limited others in direct contact, are being asked to quarantine and monitor for symptoms.”
“We continue to follow appropriate precautions, including the wearing of face coverings, frequent hand washing, and regular cleaning of surfaces throughout the facility,” Hubbard wrote.
SPS and Health Department officials will be directly communicating with families whose students were determined to be “close contacts” of the infected student.
“Please be assured that the well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority,” Hubbard wrote.
