The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced another record total of laboratory confirmed cases on Thursday along with the county’s 10th confirmed COVID-19 death.
SGCHD officials announced 74 new confirmed cases, bringing the county’s total number of confirmed cases to 938, putting the department on pace to hit 1,000 cases by Monday night’s Springfield City Council meeting.
The county is also tracking 455 active cases of the disease.
The Health Department also announced Thursday the county’s 10th death from COVID-19.
The death, the county’s second in the month of July, was a man in his 80s who had underlying health conditions. He was not associated with a long-term care facility.
