The Salvation Army in Springfield is under new leadership.
Majors Jon and Kris Augenstein took command of the local branch of the Salvation Army on Monday, July 6. They are currently working to meet all the staff and volunteers, along with becoming familiar with the Army’s local outreach efforts.
The Augensteins have served as Salvation Army officers for 23 years, including time in Mason City, Iowa; Wichita, Kansas; and Flint, Michigan. They last served at the Heartland Divisional Headquarters in Peoria, Illinois before taking the Springfield assignment.
Majors Bob and Vicki Buttrey, who came out of retirement to lead the local Army following Major Butch Frost’s leave for cancer treatment, are returning to retirement.
