The Springfield Police Department has released a photo and more information regarding a white truck involved in a hit and run accident that lead to the deaths of two pedestrians.
The incident began when Richard Gardner was struck by a white pickup truck just after 4 a.m. on eastbound Chestnut Expressway. The truck, a white, full-sized Ford, is missing the passenger side mirror and believed to be a 2015-2019 Ford F-150.
As Gardner lay on the roadway after bring struck, Scarlet Turner rushed into the street to help Gardner, and both were struck by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata drive by Jeremy Behrends of Springfield.
Investigators say there was no indication of impairment in the crash involving Behrends. The investigation is continuing into the incident with the pickup truck and the public’s help is sought in finding the vehicle and its driver.
