CoxHealth Infectious Disease Expert Trotman Debunks COVID-19 Myths

Dr. Robin Trotman, a CoxHealth doctor who is an expert in infectious diseases, held a Facebook Live session to debunk myths surrounding the virus and take questions from the public about the pandemic.

Trotman covered issues including masks, contraction methods, and even a rumor that you could bring the virus into your home on your shoes.

“Can shoes spread COVID? I don’t think so,” Trotman said shooting down that myth.

Trotman addressed the controversial issue of mask wearing by saying that there is scientific proof masking helps slow the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19.

“Four months ago, we would not have wanted people in the community wearing masks,” Trotman said during the session. “However, we now have a pandemic that is resulting in diagnoses throughout our community. We have patients in the hospital. That’s a different situation than when we were advising people not to use masks.”

Trotman reinforced the importance of social distancing and everyone using proper methods for hygiene including frequent hand washing.
