The Springfield-Greene County Health Department has announced that a homeless person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and has created potential exposures at locations of charitable groups that help the homeless.
SGCHD officials say they believe the new patient visited “several local providers” for homeless services in the last week. Staff are currently working to try and find all individuals who may have been exposed to the confirmed case and provide them with testing and other necessary services.
Partners of the SGCHD who have been working with the community’s homeless population have been developing plans in the event someone in that community tests positive for the virus.
Anyone concerned about exposure is asked to contact the SGCHD’s coronavirus hotline at 417-874-1211 to access testing. Other services can be access by calling the Community Partnership of the Ozarks’ One Door Program at 417-225-7499.
