It’s time for you to find out what the function is of Conjunction Junction.
Nixa Junior High Theatre is presenting Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. as part of the district’s summer school curriculum. The show will be performed on Thursday, July 2, starting at 7 p.m. in the Junior High auditorium.
“Many of us remember Schoolhouse Rock as the Emmy Award-winning three-minute Saturday morning cartoon series that taught children how to unpack their adjectives, memorize the Preamble to the Constitution, and discover that ‘Three is a Magic Number,’” Drew Cohen, president and Chief Executive Officer of Music Theatre International said in a press release. “Nixa junior high students are bringing that same spirit of fellowship, excitement and curiosity to their stage production and are exploring school subjects in a whole new way while doing so. We think they deserve a standing ovation from the community for all their work.”
Nixa 8th grader Blaiklee Cagle stars as Tammy, a nervous school teacher about to start her first day of teaching. She realizes that she can use Schoolhouse Rock songs to help her teach the kids. Songs in the show include “I’m Just a Bill,” “Three Is a Magic Number,” and “Unpack Your Adjectives.”
“I’ve always wanted to be in this show. It’s such a thrill. I love the music and I love theatre,” Cagle said.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and reservations are required. For more information or tickets, call 417-724-6400 or email the director.
