Springfield Police Name Victim of Golden Pond Apartment Shooting

The Springfield Police Department has released the name of the man shot in an incident at Golden Pond Apartments.

SPD investigators say that 25-year-old Joshua Woods, from Nixa, was the man shot in the incident. He was transported to a local hospital after being found by emergency personnel but died a short time after arrival.

Springfield PD received a 911 call around 1:48 a.m. about an injured person near the roadway at Hillcrest and Republic Road. A second 911 call came in around the same time from Golden Pond Apartments, 4120 South Hillcrest.

A resident of the apartments said that two men had tried to break into the apartment and that one of them had a gun. Police determined that Woods was one of the two men who attempted to break into the apartment and that his wounds were likely gunshot wounds.
