Cyclist Injured in Thursday Night Crash Dies

A motorcyclist injured in a crash Thursday evening died Friday afternoon of his injuries.

On Thursday night around 10:50 p.m., a motorcycle driven by Joseph Webb, 46, was riding east on College and appeared to be unable to negotiate a curve and crossed into the westbound lane. The cycle then collided with a Chrysler 300 heading west driven by 31-year-old Kyle Prugger of Republic.

Webb was ejected from his cycle and sustained critical injuries. He died in a local hospital on Friday afternoon.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the Springfield Police Department stated they do not know if impairment was a factor in the accident.

The accident is the 7th fatality crash, and 8th traffic fatality, in the city in 2020.
