The premiere culinary event in southwest Missouri, Taste of SoMo, will be heading to the internet for 2020.
Instead of taking place on Park Central Square in downtown Springfield, the Taste of SoMo will be a nine day online event examining the downtown food culture of Springfield.
“In light of this difficult time our restaurants have been facing and large gatherings not being allowed in June, we are planning this virtual Taste of SoMo restaurant week,” Jennifer Moseley, DSA Event Manager, said in a statement. “This event is designed to promote our Downtown restaurants, coffee shops and breweries as we partner with Ozarks Food Harvest to raise awareness and funds to help fight hunger in our region.”
Taste of SoMo: Virtual Edition will take place June 19th through the 27th. Those who want to participate will be able to buy $5 gift cards to participating downtown establishments. The funds from those cards will go 100% to those merchants.
The Downtown Springfield Association and the Ozarks Food Harvest will also be teaming up during the event to sell a special “Feed It Forward” t-shirt, with 100% of the proceeds going to Ozarks Food Harvest to help feed hungry families throughout the Ozarks.
