If you’re one of the thousands of local residents looking for a job, the Missouri Career Center on East Sunshine in Springfield is reopening today on a limited schedule.
The center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will have limited occupancy to stay in line with the city’s Road to Recovery Phase 2. The amount of people in the building will be limited to 40, and people will be instructed to wait in their cars to be called for when they can enter the building.
Extra precautions will be put in place at the Center including plexiglass barriers between staff and job seekers, hand sanitizers, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures. The center will close for 30 minutes at lunch time when the building will be sanitized.
Some services normally available inside the Center are still not available. The Family Support Division which deals with food stamps is still closed to the public but can be reached through phone or email. Also, you won’t be able to file for unemployment as the focus of the staff is going to be helping job seekers find employment.
The Career Center on the north side of Springfield is remaining closed at the current time.
