If you love the feel of pages turning beneath your fingers or the cracking of the spine of a new book, today is a good day for you.
The Springfield-Greene County Library District is reopening almost all of their branches today, May 26. The libraries that are reopening to the public will be doing so with enhanced social distancing and sanitation techniques to protect patrons.
There will be two locations that will not be opening to full service but will be offering curbside service to library card holders: the Park Central Square location and the Fair Grove branch.
All other branches will be open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday through the end of August. Drive up service windows will be open an hour earlier and later, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday.
Book return boxes will be available 24/7.
While drive-up service is available, it will only be for pickup of holds. Returned materials will be required to be placed into the book drop and there will be no walk-up service at the windows.
Due dates on all items that were checked out before the COVID-19 related closure have been extended to July.
