The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has released more details connected to the escape of two inmates Monday and say it’s likely that other inmates will be facing additional charges for aiding in the escape.
While inmates were out having recreation time in the temporary jail, they bent fencing to create an eight-inch gap through which two inmates were able to crawl under and escape.
Nathan Sneed, the inmate who was able to escape initial recapture, was found by the Greene County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit on the roof of an outbuilding in the 700 block of East Lynn. Sneed was taken into custody without incident.
The last escape from the Greene County Jail took place on April 27, 1989, when bank robber Larry Wayne Hankins escaped and was recaptured the same day.
