The Springfield Business Journal announced that they will be giving their 2020 Lifetime Achievement in Business award to a man who spent 60 years in public service to Greene County.
Retiring Greene County Commissioner Harold Bengsch will receive the honor during SBJ’s 2020 Economic Impact Awards in July. The award is given to someone who SBJ feels has a “career of excellence in business and impact on the community.”
Bengsch has served more than 60 years in the Springfield area, the majority of that time working for the Health Department. During his tenure leading the Springfield Health Department, he oversaw the combining of the Springfield and Greene County health departments.
He also helped establish the Jordan Valley Community Health Center, the Child Advocacy Center, and has been a vocal advocate for the expansion of mental health services throughout the county.
Bengsch will be retiring at the end of his current term on the Greene County Commission.
