Greene County Sheriff’s Office Releases Identity of Escaped Inmate

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has released information about the inmate who escaped from the Greene County Jail Monday night.

Nathan Sneed, 28, escaped the jail around 6:40 p.m. and was last seen in the area of Cox North Hospital. He is white, male, 5’8”, 130 pounds and was last seen wearing the black and white striped jumpsuit from the jail.

Sneed was facing third degree domestic assault charges.

A second inmate was caught attempting to escape with Sneed.

Springfield Police and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office are asking anyone with information about Sneed’s location to call 911.

An inmate escaped the Greene County Jail on Monday night, leading to a warning notice to the Drury University campus and a manhunt by the Springfield police and Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

The warning to the Drury Campus said the escapee was a white male in his late 20s/early 30s, was not wearing a shirt, had tattoos, and was last seen heading south from the campus toward Chestnut Expressway.

The Springfield Police Department set up a perimeter in the area where the suspect was believed to be located.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has not yet informed media the identity of the escapee.
