The Evangel University Department of Athletics announced on Monday that the 2020 Hall of Fame Banquet has been postponed.
The 2020 Hall of Fame Class includes former Evangel President, the late Dr. Robert Spence, and the most prolific scorer in Crusader basketball history, Jackson Capel, who enters the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Also, in the class is former football standout Anthony Ray, softball All-American Julia Thrasher, and track and field all-American Brian Hartzler.
After much thought and deliberation, the decision was made due to the ever-changing environment around us. We want our annual event to continue to be a focal reunion for the athletic department and the potential of not being able to gather at full capacity with friends and family aided in the decision.
The 2020 football season is still on as scheduled at this time as Evangel University continues to plan for in-person classes resuming in August. The new date for Hall of Fame weekend will be rescheduled and announced once the 2021 football schedule is released.
