The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is cutting the yellow tape.
All playgrounds are being reopened Thursday, May 14, as the park board begins to move toward normal operations after the COVID-19 lockdown. The playgrounds will be limited to 25 adults and children in the play area, and physical distancing will be required.
The Park Board is warning parents that despite the playgrounds being opened, the playground equipment will not be disinfected on a regular schedule. The Park Board said the Springfield Greene-County Health Department has told them the coronavirus may be impacted by UV light and humidity.
The fitness classes at multiple family centers will also be resuming subjected to class limits due to social distancing. Classes could move between rooms depending on class size. Contact your chosen family center for more information on classes.
Drinking fountains will remain closed, so anyone attending the centers needs to bring their own water bottle. Showers will also be turned off. Childcare services, rentals, and birthday parties are not taking place.
Aquatic facilities at Chesterfield and Doling family centers remain closed.
