Those who couldn’t go a full year without getting a fix of the special root beer that fills the Little Brown Jug, or can’t face the day without a good deep fried Oreo, this weekend brought heaven to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds.
The Ozark Empire Fair opened their concessions stands to drive-thru service on Friday and Saturday to help raise funds for the fair’s operation this summer.
The menu was full of fair classics: Footlong corndogs, cheese curds, deep fried Oreos, sidewinder fries, root beer floats and the famous Little Brown Jugs of root beer.
However, it wasn’t just all food on a stick that was available for drive-thru patrons; the Stockyard Smokehouse also served BBQ sandwiches and ribs.
The fair doesn’t receive money from the city or state for its operation, so events during the year help fund the Ozark Empire Fair. A number of fundraising related events at the Fairgrounds had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.
