The City of Springfield is joining with Greene County officials to extend the Stay at Home order through May 4 with a change that is called a “half step” toward reopening the city.
Mayor Ken McClure announced at a press conference that the city will also allow non-essential businesses to reopen under restrictions to ordering and delivery methods.
“Our recovery efforts begin right now,” McClure said. “We feel comfortable taking a step ahead right now.”
The “half step” is immediately active and will stay in effect until May 4. Businesses that were deemed non-essential can now open to take phone and internet orders as long as their products can be shipped, delivered, or made available through curbside service.
The order from the city is in line with a change to the order passed 2-1 by the Greene County Commission earlier in the day Tuesday.
