Springfield Police have released the names of the victim and accused killer related to a shooting incident at a West Kearney convenience store.
Police say that Caelan D. Troy, 24, of Springfield, was shot during an incident at the Phillips 66 convenience store, 2720 West Kearney, early Sunday night. Friends brought Troy to Cox North Hospital just before 8 p.m. and left the scene. Troy later died of his wounds.
Despite his mortal wounds, Troy was able to give investigators a description of the man who shot him, and one of the friends who brought Troy to the hospital later returned and confirmed information for investigators.
That information led to the arrest of 27-year-old Austin A. Ball of Springfield (pictured above.) Ball is currently in the Greene County Jail, booked on one count of second degree murder. Charges have been submitted to the prosecutor’s office.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and ask anyone with information to call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at (417) 869-8477.
