Greene County Sheriff’s investigators have released the name of the pilot killed in an ultralight plane crash Sunday afternoon.
GCSO officials say the pilot was Alexander Kasimtev, 43, from Plantation, Florida. His ultralight craft crashed near 1708 North Farm Road 213 in Strafford.
Kasimtev was flying a Kolb FireFly 103 aircraft, an ultralight craft with foldable wings. According to the manufacturer’s website, the craft had a 40 horsepower engine with a 5 gallon fuel capacity with a 22 foot wingspan.
The craft could either be factory built or self-built from a kit. GCSO officials indicated yesterday the craft was self-built.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
