The novel coronavirus has forced another major community event to be moved to the fall.
The organizers of Nixa Sucker Days announced that the event will be postponed from May 15th and 16th until fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This event was shaping up to be so amazing and we are very disappointed too,” Nixa Chamber of Commerce President Chris Russell said in a social media posting.
Organizers say that while they are aiming for the fall, they do not have a date chosen for the delayed event. A new date is expected to be announced within the next 10 days.
Despite the moving of the festival itself, Russell said they hope have some kind of parade when community officials lift the stay at home order and people are again allowed to attend events.
