Ozarks Food Harvest Teams with Walmart & Sam’s Club for Fundraiser

Sam’s Club and Walmart will be raising funds for Feeding America and Ozarks Food Harvest through May 11th as part of the “Fight Hunger Spark Change” campaign.

Customers of Walmart and Sam’s Club will be able to make donations online or by purchasing specially marked products that will result in a monetary donation to Ozarks Food Harvest.

“Now more than ever, people in our community need help,” Bart Brown, president and CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest said in a statement. “We’re so thankful for Walmart, Sam’s Club and their partnership on this important campaign. For every dollar donated, we can provide $10 worth of groceries to families who need help.”

Statistics provided by Ozarks Food Harvest show that one in five children and one in seven adults living in the Ozarks face hunger. The Food Bank has committed to providing an additional one million meals in 90 days to help families in southwest Missouri facing hunger because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Fight Hunger. Spark Change. has been a way for Walmart and Sam’s Club to partner with our suppliers and customers to help bring food to the people who need it most,” Julie Gehrki, vice president of philanthropy for Walmart.org, said in a statement. “With millions of Americans worrying about how they will feed their families right now, Fight Hunger. Spark Change. is a powerful way for all of us to help.”

Last year the fundraising campaign raised over $185,000, turning into 740,000 meals for children and families.
