The Springfield-Greene County Health Department Director Clay Goddards announced Tuesday two more deaths connected to COVID-19.
That brings the total number of deaths in Greene County to six.
The first death was a man in his 90s who was a resident of the Morningside of Springfield East assisted living facility. The facility now has 8 residents who have tested positive for the virus.
Goddard noted that it has been a week since the last positive case from the center; he said this could mean they have “turned the corner” on stopping the virus in that center.
“Remember, testing is a measure of a moment in time,” Goddard said in reference to testing. “I could test everyone from a particular group that might be exposed but that doesn’t mean they won’t be sick in two days. It’s possible they could have the virus but not test positive at the time of a test.”
The second death was a man in his 80s who was immuno-compromised and had contact with an international traveler.
Goddard also said that two more cases have recovered and have been medically cleared of infection.
