The Springfield police department has announced a chance in their procedures due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
While officers will continue to make their regular patrols and respond to calls for service, they will be asking people to are able to meet with officers outside their residence or business and stay at least a minimum of six feet away from the officers at all times.
Calls to request police service will be asked a variety of additional questions to determine the appropriate level of response.
Incidents will be reviewed by 911 operators, police supervisors, and responding officers to determine the type of response. I might be possible that you would be told to call information into the police department, be contacted by phone by an officer, or instructed how to give an online police report.
The changes are designed to provide officers with the maximum amount of safety while still responding to the law enforcement needs of the community.
Questions can be directed to the department at 417-864-1810.
