The declaration gives the mayor the authority to restrict public gatherings and put regulations in place to control the COVID-19 outbreak. Violations of any order of the Mayor is considered a violation of any city ordinance and can be punished by a fine.

The city and the Mayor are encouraging cancellation of events, meetings, and gatherings of 50 people or more. The Mayor will be consulting with the county health department on further actions to stem the pandemic.

The city’s X Center, home of Nixa Parks, will be clsoing to the public from March 19 to March 31. However, Nixa Parks will continue the Spring Break Camp program through APril 3rd so parents don’t have to scramble to find childcare.
