If the coronavirus breaks out at a jail that’s housing inmates from Greene County, will those inmates uninfected suddenly be returned to Greene County?
It’s a possibility according to Sheriff Jim Arnott.
“If one of the Sheriffs freak out, they could send our prisoners back,” Arnott told Greene County Commissioners. “We currently don’t have a plan for that.”
Arnott said that Greene County Sheriff’s Office staff are working hard on a coronavirus plan should there be an outbreak at another county’s jail, but that in speaking with Sheriffs around the state most are “on board for not dumping inmates back.”
He said that several Sheriffs have created a segregation plan to keep healthy inmates away from any inmates that could test positive for the coronavirus.
