Springfield Public Schools announced a new principal for Pershing K-8 effective July 1.
Dr. Jason Steingraber, the current principal of Wilder Elementary, will be taking over the position from Ryan Savage.
“I am honored, humbled and excited to be a part of the Pershing community,” Dr. Steingraber said in a statement. “I am looking forward to serving the students, teachers, and families and I can’t be more #PershingProud.”
In addition to his work at Wilder Elementary, in Steingraber’s 22 years of service he also served as principal of Bowerman Elementary, a special education process coordinator, and a speech-language pathologist.
“We look forward to welcoming Dr. Steingraber to Pershing,” Dr. Shane Dublin, executive director of secondary learning, said in a statement. “He is a proven leader, who is beloved by students, parents and staff, and is well-known and respected across the SPS system. His enthusiasm for this new opportunity is apparent and we look forward to great things ahead.”
