Springfield Fire Chief David Pennington has been honored by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
Pennington has been given the CPSE Ambassador of the Year award.
The award recognizes an individual who “goes above and beyond in their support of accreditation, credentialing, and CPSE as a whole.”
The Springfield Fire Department recently was accredited for the third time.
Pennington achieved Chief Fire Officer designation in 2012 and became an advocate for professional credentialing within the department. Under Pennington, 25 officers have gone through the designation process, making the Springfield Fire Department tops in the nation in designated officers.
Pennington has also been a peer reviewer for the Commission on Professional Credentialing since 2014.
