Springfield Contemporary Theatre opens their newest production, Oppenheimer, tonight with a performance at 7:30 p.m..
Oppenheimer tells the story of Dr. Robert Oppenheimer and the Manhattan Project as they rush to create a nuclear bomb with the hope of not only ending World War II, but all wars.
The play then looks at the tensions between the scientists, the realization of what they are actually creating, and how their lives will be forever changed by their quest to make history.
The show will be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday through March 1, with special “talkback” performances on Thursday February 20 and 27, where cast members will talk with audience members about the play after the conclusion of the performance.
Tickets are $27 for adults, $24 for students and seniors 55 or oolder. Opening weekend, tickets are $22; the Thursday shows are “Pay What You Can” with tickets for those shows available one hour before show time.
