Former Live PD star and Greene County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Lor is heading home after surgery that veterinarians said he had a 50% chance of surviving.
Former Greene County Deputy James Craigmyle (Lor’s handler while serving with the department) and James’ wife Abby have been updating on social media Lor’s recovery and revealed the good news on Monday night.
“We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers,” Abby Craigmyle wrote on Twitter. “We are on our way back from Columbia with this good boy resting in his bed in the back of the car.”
The family had said over the weekend vets were talking to them about a “home plan” which led them to believe they could be released on Monday.
“He wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for MU Veterinary Health Center and their amazing staff,” Craigmyle wrote. “We also can’t thank Project K9 Hero enough for paying 100% of Lor’s medical bills. Project K9 Hero is a not-for-profit organization that helps pay retired dog’s medical bills.”
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office provided a link to Project K9 Hero if residents want to help offset the cost to the organization for Lor’s care.
