Cox College has announced the development of two satellite campuses to help expand the opportunities for those exploring a career in nursing.
The two new campuses will be in Branson and Monett. The Branson location will be in conjunction with Cox Medical Center Branson. The Monett location will be associated with the Scott Regional Technology Center, while a new CoxHealth hospital is being built in Monett.
“There is a real need in those communities,” Dr. Amy Townsend, Chief Nursing Administrator at Cox College, said in a statement. “We want to help build the workforce in Branson and Monett with local nurses who are invested.”
Both locations will offer Associate of Science in Nursing courses, including classes offered on nights and weekends. Ten students will begin at each location starting January 2021.
“This is a natural fit to the community and will help serve rural health care needs,” Anessa Garner, Career Services coordinator at Scott Regional Technology Center in Monett, said in a statement. “This partnership will provide a bridge for not only residents of our community to pursue a degree in nursing, but also for our own Health Occupations students to make a seamless transition to higher education in the field of health care.”
The new locations will add new nursing students on top of the expansion that is taking place at Cox College’s location at Cox North hospital. The $6.6 million renovation of that facility will allow the school to accept 150 more nursing students over the new few classes, where in 2023 Cox College will be Missouri’s second largest nursing program.
