A Nixa man has been convicted on charges related to the abuse of his wife and his stepson.
Ricarte Soliben, 45, was convicted of third degree domestic assault for his attack on his wife and fourth degree domestic assault for the abuse of his son.
Soliben’s wife testified during the trial that after becoming angry with her, he shoved her into a wall and put an arm against her throat. He then grabbed her by the throat, lifting her over the bannister of the stairs leading to their basement area.
The stepson said when he heard the incident, he rushed upstairs, and Soliben tackled him over a coffee table.
The jury debated just over an hour before convicting Soliben on the two charges.
Judge David Jones set sentencing in the case for March 13 at 10:30 a.m. following a sentencing assessment from the Department of Probation and Parole.
