Former Greene County K9 Lor, who retired in November, is recovering from a surgery that has veterinarians saying he has a 50% chance of survival.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that Lor was taken to the University of Missouri Veterinary School of Medicine with pneumonia and a possible tumor that may have ruptured Lor’s small intestine.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday night, doctors said Lor had a 50% chance of survival from the surgery. He will remain under their care for at least a week.
Because the cost of the surgery and stay at the veterinary clinic, the GCSO says that non-profit organization “Project K9 Hero” has stepped up to pay for all of Lor’s medical bills.
The GSCO provided a web link for anyone who might want to donate to Project K9 Hero.
