Drury Athletics Partner with Humane Society Tonight

by Ed Beach

Drury University Athletics announced a partnership with the Southwest Missouri Humane Society for a special promotion at Drury home basketball games this Thursday night.

“Drury Plays for Strays” night will involve members of the Southwest Missouri Humane Society providing information on pet adoption, volunteer opportunities, and ways to donate to the organization. During halftime of both games, Springfield’s local Humane Society will also perform a parade of potential pets.

The partnership with the Southwest Missouri Humane Society ties Drury Athletics in with one of their most well-known alumnus and former student-athletes, Bob Barker. Barker was the host of the Price Is Right game show on CBS from 1972 to 2007, played basketball for the Panthers under A.L. Weiser in the 1940s, and has been a leading voice for animal rights throughout his public life.

Thursday’s event starts with the number one ranked Drury Lady Panthers taking on Missouri-St. Louis at 5:45 pm. The men’s game follows with the Panthers taking on UMSL and 7:45 pm.
